Backup running back Leon Johnson played well enough last week that he was in the game instead of starter Anthony "A-Train" Thomas at crunch time, and his running (34 yards, 9 carries) and pass catching (3 receptions, 27 yards) were integral to the Bears in their comeback victory over the Detroit Lions. The plan now is for Johnson to get more carries in relief of Thomas.
Johnson has 27 carries in the past four games after getting just 7 in the previous six.
A standout in track, baseball, basketball and football in high school, Johnson was nicknamed "The Natural" at North Carolina, where he set the school record for scoring and the ACC record with 5,828 ...
