San Diego received a gift of 15 electric vehicles this month.
The electric vehicles, made by Ford's now-defunct Think division, were donated to the San Diego City Parks and Recreation Department by the National Parks Foundation and the Ford Motor Co. The gift is worth about $105,000, said Carol Drummond, spokeswoman for the department.
The low-speed electric cars will be used for transporting park volunteers and assisting handicapped visitors. Many of these vehicles will replace gasoline-powered cars, helping reduce noise and air pollution, Drummond said.
