Nov. 24--WHITELAW, Wis. -- When Mark Rogers walked off his job as a mechanical designer to start his own boat building company, he had no business plan and barely a notion of what his wooden kayaks would look like.
"I had an idea in my head, a boat sketching I had done on my lunch hours, and nothing more than that," Rogers said. "I did not know how to build a mold, I did not know how to work with epoxies or fiberglass, nor did I have any concept of what it was going to take to learn all of this stuff."
