Nov. 22--A federal study that compares nursing homes has found that most in San Luis Obispo County are below the state and national averages for the number of nursing hours per patient and one of them is below the state mandate.
The recent finding is significant, since health officials say the amount of nursing staff is one of the primary measures for consumers to gauge the quality of care in a nursing home and is less subjective than the other indicators in the federal study.
