Nov. 22--TWIN FALLS, Idaho--Twin Falls' economy got a thorough poking and prodding from Lee Enterprises before the Iowa-based newspaper company bought The Times-News' former owner, Howard Publications.
And Twin Falls passed the examination.
The Davenport, Iowa, company, which bought the Howard chain this spring, created a "Lee market meter" index that measures population growth, buying power, retail sales growth and other economic indicators. Lee takes the measurements of local economies where it does business or considers doing business.
