After more than an hour of prickly debate, Democrats who lost control of the state Senate in last month's elections picked Jon Erpenbach of Middleton to lead them as Senate minority leader.
Erpenbach, entering his second four-year term, promised to press for campaign finance reform and more powerful and independent state Ethics and Elections boards.
Erpenbach also said he'll fight to protect prescription drug assistance for people 65 and older, smaller elementary school class sizes and expanded health care for kids. Republicans who now control both houses of the Legislature may try to cut such ...
