Where were you when the Gulf War finally broke out?
I don't recall my exact location on Jan. 16, 1991, but like many people I remember where Bernard Shaw and Peter Arnett were _ holed up in Room 906 of Baghdad's Al-Rasheed Hotel, reporting, along with John Holliman, the bombing of Iraq for CNN and the world.
Some of us think we saw them there, though in truth all CNN viewers saw that night were slides of the correspondents' faces. Their voices told the story while a camera equipped for night shooting recorded flashes of light against an eerie green background that wouldn't make it to the airwaves for 24 hours.
