Plasma Television Is High-Priced, Hot Item.

Nov. 19--Plasma television is the leading edge of video technology, where picture clarity and depth are breathtaking -- and so are the price tags, only more so.

Where the current average price of a typical TV set is $379, the average cost of a plasma display is $10,551, according to NPD Techworld, a research firm in Port Washington, N.Y.

But plasma TV prices are coming down and sales on the increase.

In fact, sources said, sales of traditional analog, picture-tube televisions are down this year, as consumers turn to digital TV and big-screen monitors.
