What makes an Energy Star home?
Using a two-story scale model of a prototype colonial home called the I-SMART House, Energy Star Homes intern Paul Wolff illustrates the concept of a house designed for optimal energy performance.
"We see an Energy Star home as an integrated building system that includes siting, foundations, framing, insulation, air sealing, windows, ventilation, heating systems and efficient appliances," Wolff says. "All of these elements have to work together."
