Peter Pan Bus Lines said yesterday that it drove a deal to double its size by buying five New England rivals from Coach USA for undisclosed terms.
Coach USA's five New England affiliates, including Bonanza Lines, Arrow Lines, the Maine Line, Pawtuxet Valley Lines and Coach USA Boston, are expected to boost Peter Pan's charter and tour businesses.
The 69-year-old Springfield-based operator said it would also give it new inter-city lines, and access to growing numbers of passengers headed for Connecticut casinos.
"It's a major step for our company," said Peter L. Picknelly, chairman of Peter Pan.
