IT was deep in the moonless and starless night. In the pitch black darkness, the owl perched firmly on the branch of a mango tree. His eyes and ears were acutely tuned to the surrounding sights and sounds. For he was a night creature.
Three rats stealthily maneuvered on the ground deliberately avoiding the dried leaves and twigs.
"Hey, you three there!'' hooted the owl with a voice so full of authority.
The three rats trembled in fear. "You mean us?'' they querried meekly.
"Yes. You three rats,'' answered the owl with some annoyance. "What are you doing in the night disturbing the quiet and peace of the farm?''
