THOUSANDS of families from the Muslim community were gathering at mosques across the city today to mark the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the Eid-el-Fitr festival.

They were celebrating with relatives and friends at home as well as attending annual prayers of thanksgiving at their local mosques.
