Article: North Carolina Lawmaker Threatens Suit over Disclosure about Biotech Company.

Oct. 31--Rep. Art Pope threatened Wednesday to sue the Golden LEAF Foundation -- responsible for handling $2.3 billion of the state's tobacco settlement share -- if it doesn't hand over records about a deal to place $30 million with a new biotech venture capital company.

He also said he would call for a state audit if the foundation doesn't surrender the records.

Catalysta Ventures, a Durham investment and management firm, is starting the new company, BioVista. John Crumpler, a financial backer of Gov. Mike Easley, is a partner in Catalysta.
