Nov. 5--The paradox of Cape Cod, says author James O'Connell, is that public interest in the Cape's history emerges when the remnants of its past disappear.
"The more it gets lost," he said, "the more it gets discovered."
O'Connell, the former economic development officer for the Cape Cod Commission, is trying to slow the loss and encourage discovery. In his recent book, "Becoming Cape Cod: Creating A Seaside Resort," ($26, University Press of New England), O'Connell explores how the region evolved from a rural maritime area to New England's most ...
