Nov. 2--Clayton-based Raskas Foods Inc., the country's largest maker of store-label cream cheese, said Friday that it has been acquired by Schreiber Foods Inc. of Green Bay, Wis.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Raskas, a private, family-owned company founded in 1888, generated $185 million in sales last year. The company employs 510 workers and operates a manufacturing plant, research facility and a distribution center in St. Louis.
Schreiber Foods, the nation's top processor and packager of private-label cheese, had sales of $2 billion in 2001.
