VIENNA, VA. -- Western Branch's motto this season was Richmond or bust.
The Bruins were determined to go to the University of Richmond, site of the Group AAA Division 6 state finals.
But those hopes were dashed Saturday when Oakton's Matt Lewis kicked a 27-yard field in the second overtime to lift the Cougars past the Bruins 17-14 in the state semifinals at Oakton High School.
The Cougars play C.D. Hylton, which beat Thomas Dale 22-8, in next Saturday's Group AAA Division 6 state championship game.
"It's heartbreaking for them,'' Western Branch coach Lew Johnston said of his players. ...
