Nov. 6--Centex Homes is building a community in Pawleys Island on land first developed in 1718 as one of the area's first rice plantations along the Waccamaw River.
The 67-acre Camden Creek at Allston Plantation development will have more than 130 single-family homes costing $189,400 to $265,400. The project is being built along Georgetown County's Waccamaw Neck, an area that absorbed more than 70 percent of the county's population growth during the 1990s.
A recent building lull in the area had contributed to flat residential sales in Georgetown ...
