Dec. 5--BOGOTA, Colombia--Like his quick trip last week to Mexico, Secretary of State Colin Powell's visit to Colombia that ended Wednesday was aimed in part at showing that the Bush administration is paying attention to Latin America even as it focuses on Iraq and volatile situations elsewhere.
But as Powell pledged support Wednesday for Colombia's war against violent drug cartels and rebel insurgents, he emphasized that the attention henceforth would be directed through an anti-terrorism prism.
