An inquest into the death of yachtsman Sir Peter Blake who was shot by pirates in the Amazon, recorded a verdict of unlawful killing yesterday.
New Zealander Sir Peter, aged 53, of Western Parade, Emsworth, Hampshire, who won the 1989 Whitbread Round the World race and the 2000 Americas Cup, was shot by pirates raiding his 119-foot boat Seamaster at the mouth of the Amazon at Macapa in Brazil on December 5 last year.
