GENEVA STEEL TO INSTALL $95 MILLION CONTINUOUS CASTING FACILITY
VINEYARD, Utah, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its announced modernization program, Geneva Steel (NYSE: GNV) said today that it plans to install a continuous casting facility designed to produce thin slabs as well as conventional thick slabs. In a "quick exchange" operation, the caster will convert from producing conventional slabs to producing thin slabs.
The facility will be connected to Geneva's existing rolling mill operation to allow direct rolling of cast slabs without the necessity to reheat the slabs from cold.
