Trying to guess the motivation behind the timing of a book's release is a little parlor game with us book critics, seeing as we're on the fringes of the publishing industry and never really know.
The latest Elmore Leonard book, a collection of short stories called "When the Women Come Out to Dance" is good fodder for a round. It was supposed to come out Jan. 1, has been in stores since Nov. 19, and still has an official "pub date" of Jan. 1: What's up with that?
