Internet filters for blocking pornography can end up blocking access to health information websites, according to a new US study.

When internet filters were set at their most restrictive level, they blocked almost a quarter of health information sites and half of all sites that contained advice about safe sex, said the study, "See No Evil: How Internet Filters Affect the Search for Online Health Information", by the Kaiser Family Foundation and published Wednesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
