TALLAHASSEE, Fla. _ Florida Democratic Party Chairman Bob Poe, ending weeks of speculation Thursday, said he will step down effective Jan. 4, allowing party leaders to concentrate on rebuilding the party following its poor showing in the November elections.
Poe has been under constant attack since Nov. 5 and considered resigning two weeks ago, only to be talked out of it by lawmakers. But as he helps coordinate the annual meeting of the state committee in Orlando next month, he said he felt it was time to go.
