Dec. 8--NovaGold Resources Inc. reports that it has found 4 million more ounces of gold in its Donlin Creek gold exploration project near the Kuskokwim River about 250 miles west of Anchorage.
The new estimate increases the total gold resource at the mine from 19.2 million ounces to 23.2 million ounces. Of this estimate, 8.3 million ounces are considered "measured and indicated," meaning data from drilling is sufficient that there's confidence in the estimate, according to Stan Foo, the state mining director.
