Dec. 12--CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa--Air travelers in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines are about to lose their direct connection with Kansas City. US Airways on Wednesday confirmed that its US Airways Express regional affiliate will end service to both communities Jan. 4. The three daily flights are operated by Air Midwest Airlines, a subsidiary of Mesa Air Group, using 19-passenger turbo-prop aircraft. David Castelveter, a spokesman for US Airways, said low ridership was the main reason for ending the service to Cedar Rapids and Des Moines.
