Minnesota stores began stocking blue, white and green packages of the over-the-counter version of Claritin this week, and customers soon will find that their health insurance plans no longer will pay for the popular allergy drug.
Instead, Claritin is going the way of Pepcid AC and Motrin - drugs that used to require a doctor's prescription and later were granted government permission to be sold to anyone.
Thursday night, manufacturer Schering-Plough Corp. launched a new ad campaign for Claritin, which has been one of the most heavily advertised drugs in the past five years.
