DALLAS _ There was a time when it was easy to say Brett Hull wasn't very smart.
He shot his mouth off too much, he stirred the pot too much, he wouldn't adapt his game to the changing NHL. During his struggling days in St. Louis,in fact, Hull looked like a player determined to do everything for his own good with no concern for the team or the league.
How wrong it was to think of him that way.
Hull this week during an interview with the CBC network in Canada called himself the smartest man in the game of hockey.
"I am 10 times smarter than everybody in this game," Hull said. "Beyond a shadow of a doubt."
