"Dancing with the Tide," Mick Blackistone's sequel to "Sunup to Sundown," is an indispensable account of the Chesapeake Bay--a shoreline about which one visiting Japanese dignitary is rumored to have said, "If we had the Chesapeake Bay we could feed the world." Although the diplomat's claim may be admittedly unrealistic, it is otherwise difficult to overestimate the significance of the bay--not only its long, rich history rife with legendary watermen and famous skipjacks, but, more tangibly, as an estuary whose multitude of fisheries provide so much product for so many markets.
