Aug. 3--Wayne Chappell, Kansas City's top tourism cheerleader, announced his resignation Friday as president of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City.
Chappell will begin work later this month as vice president of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Council. He was sales and marketing director at the Houston agency from 1973 to 1978.
Rod Anderson, a Kansas City restaurant owner and chairman of the bureau's board of directors, said he hoped to have a new president in place by October. Chappell was paid $162,923 a year.
