Borrowing the analogy of spell-checking from the word-processing domain, the Finnish company Solibri Inc. has developed a tool for the design spell-checking of a building model in the AEC domain. The intent of the Solibri Model Checker (SMC) is to find out potential problems, conflicts, or design-code violations in the model. This task is enormously more complex than a word spell-checker--for a start, the model itself has to incorporate a certain level of intelligence and building semantics, so that the model checker can interpret it, analyze it, and then point out any errors in it.
