Dec. 13--ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--Claritin, the popular defense against allergies, moved from behind the counter to the main shelves of drugstores Thursday.
Claritin is the first nonsedating antihistamine to reach the market without a doctor's prescription in this country.
While sales were slow Thursday, Richard Wagner, a pharmacist at Lobo Campus Pharmacy on Central, said demand is bound to rise during Albuquerque's typical mid-March to mid-September allergy season.
When the sneezing starts next spring, most Claritin users will find the drug more expensive -- but available ...
