A University of Washington professor received a $10 million National Science Foundation grant to establish a national center that will explore how students think and learn about engineering.

"There isn't a lot of data out there about how students learn engineering, so we hope to provide data and also leverage that data to look at how to educate engineers effectively," said Cindy Atman, associate professor of industrial engineering. Atman is the principal investigator on the grant and will lead a consortium of schools and other institutions.
