If free throws truly are free, why did Streamwood pay such a heavy price Saturday night for sending St. Charles East to the line?
The Saints made 19 of 25 free throws, including each of their final 10 to stall the host Sabres' 16-6 run to start the fourth quarter. St. Charles East won the Upstate Eight Conference game 54- 45.
"Since I got here the kids have been shooting free throws," Saints coach Jerry Krieg said. "I just sit on the bench with these kids. For some reason we just always make free throws down the stretch. Thankfully, Dan (Izzo) had the ball late in the game going to the line."
