On a day that a moderate GOP senator urged his party to replace Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, Colorado's two Republican senators repeated their support for the embattled Mississippian.
Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell said earlier this week that Lott's comments, in which he appeared to say the country would have been better off if a segregationist had been elected president in 1948, were "a mistake." Campbell added he had known Lott for 15 years and concluded that he didn't think "he's got a prejudiced bone in his body."
