Call it the Julius effect. For the first time since 1999, KMOV (Channel 4) was almost number one in news at 10 p.m. November 1999 was somewhat of an aberration, another personality-related move. The station brought its popular weathercaster, Trish Brown, back on the air for a series of special reports. Channel 4 hasn't won the 10 p.m. news race cleanly since the mid-1980s.
Clearly, Hunter has drawing power. In his final month, the station featured his career in some capacity every weekday night. Whether it was about his many presidential interviews, words from former colleagues such as Herb Humphries and Steve Schiff, bloopers, or simply his fondest memories, ...
