Pat Delaney, co-chair of Lindquist & Vennum's 50-lawyer corporate department, will retire at the end of this month to focus on a years-long novel-writing effort, volunteerism and improving his five-year-old golf game.
"I love this law firm," said Delaney, 60, who merged his own firm into L&V 18 years ago. "I, by and large, love the practice of law. I even like most of the clients. It's a good living, rich compared with most. I could stay.
"But I've got a half-done novel at home I haven't touched for 4 1/2 years. The firm is doing well. I gotta do this ... while I can still string three words together."
