Troy O'Leary had some pretty hot years in Boston. He might not be in position to set Chicago ablaze, but he promises to give it his best shot.
As expected, the Cubs on Tuesday signed the 33-year-old outfielder to a one-year contract worth $750,000 plus incentives.
O'Leary cited new Cubs manager Dusty Baker as one of the reasons he signed. He also showed an aptitude for history.
"I'm used to playing in an atmosphere like Chicago, plus having the last name of O'Leary, so it could be pretty interesting," he said, referring to Mrs. O'Leary's cow, which allegedly started the 1871 Chicago Fire.
