Strong support was voiced yesterday for a state Department of Transportation proposal to convert high-occupancy vehicle lanes on Interstate 405 and state Route 167 into lanes that would be open to solo drivers who paid a toll.
The so-called HOT lanes would continue to be free to transit and to vehicles with more than two people.
Speaking favorably of the HOT-lane concept yesterday were representatives of Seattle's Department of Transportation, King County Executive Ron Sims and the Puget Sound Regional Council.
