Dec. 22--L.O. Kennedy is 88 years old, but that doesn't stop him from playing golf two or three times a week.
He heads to Cedar Crest, an often-ignored municipal course in South Dallas with a rich history that is scheduled for a $3 million upgrade.
For golf historians, Cedar Crest is significant because it was designed by a legendary golf course architect, A.W. Tillinghast, in 1919. While still a private course, it hosted the 1927 PGA Championship -- one of pro golf's four major tournaments -- before coming under city control two decades later.
