Dec. 22--New World Pasta, the financially troubled leader in the pasta market, has not filed its third-quarter earnings report and may not do so until January or February, analysts say.
"I've been told not to expect anything soon," said John Braatz, an analyst with Security Investment Co. in Kansas City, Mo. "Are they in a death spiral? Who knows."
Another analyst, however, said if New World can weather the current storm, it is poised to boost its market share, thanks to additional business it is doing with Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer.
