JOHN MULCAHY WILL move his family from Sydney to Brisbane in the next few weeks to take over as managing director and chief executive of Suncorp Metway and realise a long-held ambition to head a major financial institution in Australia.
Opportunities to become a CEO in the financial services game don't come around too often and when they do it's a matter of the quick and the dead.
So when John Story, the Suncorp deputy chairman and head of the committee charged with finding a replacement for American Steve Jones, sounded out Mulcahy he had a willing subject.
