Voters in Ypsilanti, Mich., have rejected an effort led by Domino's Pizza magnate Tom Monaghan to repeal a city law banning discrimination toward gays.
Monaghan, an ultra-conservative Catholic who made his fortune through Domino's but no longer owns the company, does not live in Ypsilanti. Nevertheless, he funded the move to overturn the city's five-year-old anti-discrimination ordinance, including paying for solicitors to collect signatures to get the measure on the ballot.
