Dec. 24--Ah, Christmas Eve.
For most, it marks the point when the holiday season finally calms down. The last-minute shopping is complete (or at least the stores have closed) and the focus turns to the simple pleasures of feasting, caroling and spending time with family and friends.
But for an assortment of restaurant, transportation, public safety and other workers (to say nothing of Santa), Christmas Eve represents just another day at the office.
At first blush, it seems a depressing way to kick off the holiday. Who in their right minds would ...
