Despite recent setbacks by major producers in Wyoming's Powder River Basin (NGW Nov. 18, p1), independents continue pushing development plans in the prolific coalbed methane play. Improved market access from several proposed pipelines should ultimately boost wellhead prices in the basin.
Colorado Interstate Gas (GIG), a subsidiary of El Paso, announced last week the development of the Cheyenne Plains Pipeline (CPP), a 30-inch diameter line with a capacity of 540 MMcf/d. The CPP will give Wyoming suppliers access to markets in the Midwest, interconnecting to Mid-Continent pipelines near Greensburg, Kansas.
