With Illinois bucking this year's national trend by swinging more Democratic, former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun appears likely to do what Al Gore opted against: attempt a political comeback in 2004 against the person she lost to last time.
While Moseley-Braun will say only she plans to announce her intentions after the new year, longtime supporters are indicating the only black woman ever to serve in the Senate could join what's expected to be a crowded primary field vying for the right to challenge Republican Sen. Peter Fitzgerald of Inverness.
