Like the Poulan Weedeater, Carquest and micronpc.com bowls before it, the Continental Tire Bowl has a name that is easy to ridicule.
Its origins are blatantly commercial. Its tradition dates all the way back to ? May, when the title sponsor stepped forward. Its location is far from exotic. Its very existence is, to some, an example of bowl season excess. After all, was the world really clamoring for a 28thbowl game, especially one played in late December, in Charlotte?
Apparently it was.
Go ahead, make your jokes. The Tire Bowl's organizers won't mind. Their game, pitting Virginia against West ...
