"Auld Lang Syne" never will have more meaning for New England thoroughbred horsemen than next week on New Year's Eve when they hear the familiar refrain, "Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind?"
In the aftermath ofRockingham Park management's decision to terminate thoroughbred racing at the Salem, N.H., racetrack, the horsemen have every reason to become nostalgic about the good old days at the track "Where It All Began." However, they're too hot to feel warm and fuzzy about the needless loss of an old friend.
Don't expect the horsemen and Rockingham Park management to share a "cup o kindness" any time ...
