WE ADMIRE WARREN STEP-hens of the Stephens Group and Scott Ford of Alltel Corp. for stepping out to suggest the idea of one large metropolitan government for all of Pulaski County. It's an old idea that has merit, both from the standpoint of government efficiency and for economic development. Little Rock's official population of 183,000 doesn't begin to reflect the actual size of our community and our economy.
We also think the odds of Pulaski County being joined into a single governmental unit during the lifetime of these two young men hover somewhere between slim and none.
