Dec. 30--Marcel Sweers started shopping for a new insurer when State Farm raised his home insurance premium 37 percent this year.
He found an Allstate agent willing to sell him less-expensive coverage on his League City home.
But that agent pulled the CLUE report for Sweers, which is short for Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange, and discovered that he had filed a water damage claim in October 2001. Then she said she could not offer Sweers a policy.
He was baffled until he remembered a February phone call to his State Farm agent.
