Dec. 31--Brand promotion and marketing campaigns must be stepped up to help the Thai leather goods industry compete in the world market or exports will face trouble in the coming year, says an industry executive.

"Competition in the world's leather goods market will intensify, now that China has fine-tuned itself by adopting new technology and Vietnam is planning to raise its footwear production capacity," said Sunanta Wuthisakul, president of the Thai Leather Goods Association.
